Whentotweet now supports Twitter @anywhere

I got a nice surprise from Stefan today, Whentotweet.com is now integrated with Twitter’s @anywhere service! You can see it for yourself on a result page by hovering with your cursor over the username. As you can tell from how quickly we were integrated, using @anywhere is super simple and is another strong bolt in the Twitter ecosystem.

Whentotweet.com is born!

Today I am very happy to announce that I am  launching www.whentotweet.com together with Stefan Ålund. Whentotweet (WTT) analyzes at what time of day your followers tweet and gives you a personalized recommendation on the best time of day to tweet. Due to restrictions from Twitter we are forced to limit the number of followers that WTT analyzes but we hope to provide a PRO version that supports an almost unlimited number of followers in the future.

The idea behind Whentotweet came up after a discussion with Jyri Engström from Jaiku/Google on the flood of tweets coming every day and filtering that noise. Being heard and being retweeted is becoming a “stamp of approval”, and anyone using Twitter as a way to reach out with important information or to start a discussion needs every possible to chance to be heard. WTT pushes the odds in your favor.

Whentotweet is built in Python on top of Google App Engine which has been amazingly easy to work with. The task queue and datastore implementations are a fine work of art and making anything else in the future without these tools would be huge let down.

I hope you try whentotweet and if you like it follow me on Twitter and/or subscribe to this blog to keep updated with fun future projects!
